There are a number of Bible apps that you can use to read the Bible on your mobile device, tablet or PC. There are also apps that will read the Bible to you, Bible quizzes, crosswords – you name it!
Here are a recommended few of ours with our absolute faves highlighted with an asterisk (*):
FREE Bible Study apps:
BIBLE / YOUVERSION *
Can be downloaded on both Apple and Play store.

Previously known as YouVersion. Once you have created an account, you are able to bookmark and highlight scripture, send verses to social media (Facebook / Twitter), create scriptural images, gain badges and view your activity within the app. You are able to select devotionals / plans with daily reminders of completion, compare scriptures and translations plus you have the chance to catch-up if you miss a day or two. You can also add up to 250 friends (either via Facebook, phone contacts or people on the app) who can invite you to plans and ‘like/love’ your activity. You can also search for topics, with a number of top topics featured underneath the search tab.
There is now also a day and night mode option for viewing the Bible through the app.
Although there is an online portal, you have limited access to the above features.

BIBLE GATEWAY *
Can be viewed online or via the app.
Bible Gateway has a number of different translations of the Bible, some of which are not on any other format (i.e. The Voice).

It features an audio Bible, reading plans, a place for you to gather your thoughts via its notes section, an option to view in night mode as well as daytime mode, red letters to display the words of Jesus plus more.
Although Bible Gateway does not have many reading plans, you do have the option to learn the Bible: from the beginning, in 90 days, chronologically, historically, in a year (NT only), throughout (OT & NT) and readings specifically for Lent and Easter. They also have a number of commentaries and dictionaries attached to the translations, some free; others available to purchase.
The app is simplistic compared to others, but the online version is particularly useful.

BIBLE STUDY // Olive Tree
Bible Study is the app created by Olive Tree for in-depth reading of the Word of God.

It not only allows you to add notes to what you read, but has multiple reading plans for you to choose from, a search tool, bookmark pages, an option to view scripture translations parallel to one another and look up people of the Bible. It also has images for verse of the day which you can share online or send to friends.
Unfortunately, this app only uses ESV (English Standard Version) and if you would like to use another translation, these are only available through purchasing your selected translations via the app ranging from £1.99GBP – £28.99GBP whereas other Bible apps have a variety of translations included.

BLUE LETTER BIBLE (BLB) *
The Blue Letter Bible has a number of Bible translations (online and offline) for you to choose from, including Bibles in Spanish, Chinese, Greek / Hebrew, Latin, French, Korean and German.

You can choose either Passage or version selector of the Bible, and have the option of a daily reading plan or going through the Bible as you please. The BLB allows you to look up scripture to understand more, and also shows you how to navigate through the app.
It features an auto-scroll help icon, preference settings, search tab, bookmarks, history, verse resources, and much more! It also has an audio option.
The Blue Letter Bible allows you to view up to 2 translations parallel to one another.
The BLB is very in-depth and not as easy to navigate as other Bible apps but nonetheless, a very thorough app.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR (BIOY) *

Bible in one year is your opportunity to go through the Bible in full in one whole year!
Yes, that’s right; in 365 / 366 days! So many of us have never read the Bible in full, and Nicky and Pippa Gumbel, leaders of Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) in London have devised an app that will take you through the Old and New Testament in ONE YEAR. Featuring devotionals by Nicky himself with a thought or two from Pippa to end, this is a sure way to get you delving deeper and deeper into the Bible and into the presence of God.
