A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped.
“Who touched Me?” Jesus asked.
Everyone denied it, and Peter said, “Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against You.”
But Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched Me, for I felt healing power go out from Me.”
When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of Him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched Him and that she had been immediately healed.
“Daughter,” He said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
~ Luke 8:43-48, New Living Translation
The woman with the issue of blood happens to be one incredible bible story.
There have been so many talks on this with regards to God’s power, healing and her pain; and yet, perhaps there was a revelation that had not yet been spoken about.
The revelation that this woman, wanted to be healed and she knew Who could heal her.
Jesus.
But more than that, she never let her pain prevent her from obtaining her healing; the pain that she had carried for so long that had crippled her!
Often times, pain from our past cripples us, and we do not realise the extent of which it does until it comes to the fore in our present; and it is then that we realise that what we thought we had buried so deep into the ground never to return actually wasn’t buried at all…
This woman’s was tormented by what she thought she had buried; what she thought she could cover; but there was no cure that man could give her – the only cure left was to bring it to the feet of Jesus, the One who makes the possible out of the impossible.
I once was lost but God has found me.
Though I was bound I’ve been set free;
I’ve been made righteous in His sight –
A display of His splendor all can see.
~ Crystal Lewis, Beauty for Ashes
And so, we are told, she made her way through the crowd to the Source of her healing. But nothing goes amiss by our Lord!! He knew – even in a crowd of many that were most likely brushing past Him – that power had gone from His body. He knew that someone deliberately needed a touch of Him to be healed…
Her bravery is what speaks volumes. Scripture says that “everyone denied it” [touching Jesus], but she didn’t. She had the courage [even in her ‘trembling’ state] to speak the truth to the One who is the Truth. She stood out from the crowd. This woman – who would have been an outcast for being a woman and moreso because she was ill – risked it all to be healed. She had the revelation that nothing else would help her & no one else could help her but Jesus.

—————————————————
Often times, we try to hide what God really wants to uncover.
In the Old Testament, Adam and Eve tried to hide their nakedness from God and trembled when they heard Him call for them [Genesis 3:7-12], but the beauty of Jesus in the New Testament is that He came to set us free; so that we fear and tremble no more at our wrongdoings, but stand boldly and bravely in awe in the presence of our Saviour.
Don’t we all need a touch of Jesus to be healed?!
Healed from our pain.
Healed from the negative words that were spoken to us or about us.
Healed from the broken relationship.
Healed from rejection.
Healed from setback after setback; knockback after knockback.
Healed from our scars.
Healed from ourselves.
Are you willing to be brave in Jesus for His glory? Are you willing to stand out from the crowd and tell Him you need Him? Are you willing to allow Him to heal you so that you can be a testimony to others?
